Membership
Many are called, but few are chosen. That applies to many things in life. As a fellow American, you chose to give service to your country when you joined the military. As a veteran you may be eligible to join The American Legion which is the nation’s most influential, effective and dependable advocate of veteran affairs. Many veterans have asked themselves this question at some time: “Do I want to join the American Legion?” Then they go on to say, “Nobody ever invited me to join.” Well, we’re inviting you!
We are looking for those who have served in our military and want to contribute back to the community in which they live. The true value of joining The American Legion can’t be measured in dollars and cents. It is a unique way of being a part of something bigger than any individual, and we are inviting you to join us.
Our post serves as a service organization to our veterans and the community. We encourage our members to attend meetings and functions, and participate in community events. It makes membership a rewarding experience. The legionnaires of Post 460 are heavily involved with community activities ranging from Memorial Day services to supporting youth programs such as Boy Scouts, and the annual Badger Boys State and Girls State programs. Our annual Feather Party and Bingo fund raiser continues to be a big hit with the local community. New members will mean new ideas, new community service projects, and a fundamentally more robust post. If you are thinking about joining or have questions, please attend one of our monthly meetings or contact us.
Membership Eligibility
The American Legion’s eligibility criteria states that veterans must have served during “wartime.” The eligibility dates of service now span from Dec. 7, 1941, until a time when the U.S. is no longer at war, as determined by Congress. If you are still serving on active duty — you are eligible for membership in The American Legion!
